Flow Mountain Bike Reviews the Velduro Rogue
The Velduro Rogue has been turning heads since we first put it out into the world. Now, Flow Mountain Bike has had the chance to ride it properly, and the full review is out. Flow's Tom Wilson spent a serious chunk of time on the Rogue R across a range of terrain, from fire road climbs to proper downhill tracks, and came away with a clear picture of what this DJI Avinox powered carbon eMTB is all about.
Built to descend, built to go back up
Tom's favourite way to ride the Rogue was as a self shuttling enduro eMTB. Lap a proper downhill track, hit the fire road back to the top in Turbo mode, repeat. He described it as where this bike absolutely shone. The I-Track high pivot suspension kept things planted and composed on rough terrain while the 105Nm DJI Avinox motor made short work of the climbs. He was regularly sitting close to the 25km/h assist limit on the way up and got around 1,400 to 1,500 metres of climbing from the 800Wh battery running flat out.
On the descents, he said the Rogue felt planted and confidence inspiring on genuinely gnarly terrain. Not sharp and race focused, but comfortable and capable in a way that made him want to push into terrain he would have avoided on other e-MTBs. That is a pretty good endorsement.
The DJI Avinox motor delivered
Tom has ridden a few Avinox-powered bikes now and the system keeps earning its reputation. He called the power delivery seriously punchy and said the motor complements the Rogue's character well. What surprised him most by the end of the review was the user interface. The tuning app and the touchscreen display on the top tube both got a genuine nod as well thought out touches on an already impressive system.
Specced right for the job
The Rogue R came in for praise on the component front too. Enduro specific Maxxis DoubleDown tyres, Fox Factory suspension front and rear, SRAM Maven brakes and a 210mm OneUp dropper on the size medium. Tom was particularly happy about the brakes, saying anything less powerful would be a compromise on a bike like this. It is the kind of spec sheet that tells you exactly what the Rogue is built for.
Frame only options got a mention too
Tom brought up the Rogue frame only option more than once throughout the review. He described it as rare in the eMTB space and called it a genuinely smart option for riders who already own quality parts and want to build their own carbon frame, avinox powered eMTB. He predicted that framesets would be one of the most popular choices.

Flow's verdict
Tom wrapped things up by saying the early attention the Rogue has been getting feels justified. Strong downhill capability, a powerful motor, a big battery and the option to build your own. For the right rider that is a hard combination to argue with.
