Your Avinox Questions Answered by Rob Rides
Riders have been flooding social media with questions about DJI Avinox powered eMTBs. How do they perform? What settings work best? What's the deal with all the customisation?
Rob Ride, one of the UK's most trusted voices in eMTB testing, sat down to tackle the questions that keep coming up. Rob's built a reputation for honest, no-nonsense bike reviews and actually rides the hell out of everything he tests. He brought along four different Avinox bikes to put through their paces, with the Velduro Rogue featuring heavily throughout.
This is real-world feedback from someone who knows what matters on the trails.
Why the Avinox drive system is winning riders over
The power is the first thing Rob mentions. The DJI Avinox delivers serious grunt, and you can genuinely feel it when the trail points up. Rob's take: "I can just blast up to the top of the trails" in turbo and boost mode, maximising winter lap time before it gets dark.
Fast charging keeps coming up as a genuine game-changer. The Avinox charges at 12 amps, meaning you can charge an 800Wh battery in roughly two and a half hours. Rob points out he can forget about charging and just plug it in when he gets back. To 80 percent, it's seriously quick.
The aesthetics matter too. These slim, integrated Avinox frames look nothing like traditional eMTBs. Clean lines, hidden batteries, and that performance without the bulk.
Plus the tech updates. Avinox rolls out new features and improvements every three to six months. Coast shift, refined power delivery, and app updates. The system keeps getting better.
Dialling In Your Settings - Rob's Approach
One of the standout features is how easy it is to adjust assist settings. No phone required. Just swipe down on the screen and change everything on the fly.
Rob's Go-To Settings:
- Default mode - Full power for maximum winter laps
- Group ride mode - Minimum assist 6, maximum 10-11, reduced watts and torque
- Battery saving trick - Lower the continued assist (cruising power) to minimum
- Overrun - Rob runs it on maximum for that flowing feeling out of corners
The beauty is that you can experiment live while riding without stopping or resetting anything. Find what works for your style and trails.
The Rogue - What Rob Found
This is where things get exciting. Rob's feedback on the Velduro Rogue suspension: "noticeably calmer" through constant chunk, roots, and rough trail sections.
The mid pivot design delivers minimal pedal kickback. It's the first high pivot or mid pivot bike Rob's ridden with that characteristic, and it makes a massive difference on technical terrain.
Rob tested the Rogue on some proper janky tracks with zero flow, just steep gradients and relentless roots. It's a brutal test of suspension design, and the Rogue handled it brilliantly. The progressive feel means it's easy to use the first bit of the stroke but supportive when you need it deep in the travel.
He reckons a coil shock would be perfect on this bike, and points out the quick turning on tight, steep tracks with the back end just swinging round beautifully. Plus you can run a proper dropper post without any insertion issues.
Rob's verdict: "This is essentially what riders asked for. More travel, that Avinox power, and the ability to run it exactly how you want."
He reckons it'll be super popular, especially in the UK. Frame only options mean you can build your dream setup around that mid pivot platform.
Rob's Choice - Avinox Over Everything
Here's the key point: Rob actually owns the same bike in both systems, and he chooses to ride the Avinox one every time.
After extended testing on multiple platforms, his preference is clear. The fast charging, power delivery, looks, weight, and regular updates add up to a package that works better for his riding style.
The customisation depth means you can dial these bikes in perfectly for your trails, your fitness level, and your riding style. Plus, Avinox keeps improving the system with meaningful updates rather than leaving you with yesterday's tech.
