Stuck between sizes?
The ranges overlap at about 172cm, 180 to 182cm and 185 to 188cm. If you like a bike that feels stable and planted at speed, size up. If you prefer something flickable that is easy to throw around, size down. Neither is the wrong call. It comes down to how you ride.
Which size Vandal frame kit should I choose?
The Vandal frame kit comes in S, M, L and XL. S suits riders from 160 to 172cm, M from 172 to 182cm, L from 180 to 188cm and XL from 185 to 195cm. If you sit between two sizes, size up for a bike that feels stable and planted at speed, or size down for one that is easier to flick around. The Sizing and Geometry tabs have the full numbers.
What comes with the Vandal frame kit?
The kit includes the Vandal carbon frame with carbon linkage and titanium pivot bolts, a 16T CNC idler with guide, an FSA No.57 ZS44/56 headset, a 12 x 148mm rear thru-axle, a UDH hanger, bottle cage screws, a seatpost clamp, cable lugs and the motor cover. It also comes with the Avinox M2S motor, a 700Wh battery, a 2-inch Avinox DPC100 screen, two Avinox BC100 remotes, a speed sensor, a 12A 508W charger and power cables. The cranks are Avinox ISIS 155mm, with a Velduro steel 36T chainring and lockable spider.
Does the frame kit come with a shock?
You can choose the kit with or without a Fox Float X shock fitted. If you supply your own, it needs to be 185 x 55mm trunnion with M10 x 30mm bushings.
Which fork fits the Vandal frame kit?
The frame suits a 1.5T tapered fork with 160mm of travel and an axle to crown length of 572mm.
How much suspension travel does the frame have?
The frame has 145mm of rear travel, up to 152mm, and is designed around a 160mm fork.
What is i-track suspension and how does it work?
i-track is a patented suspension platform. The Vandal uses it in a mid-pivot layout with a 16T idler and oversized bearings. The idler manages the chain so pedalling forces and suspension movement stay separate, which helps the bike keep its grip, respond to small bumps and put power down efficiently. The inventor explains how it works in our i-track suspension article.
Which drivetrain parts will fit?
The frame takes a 1x drivetrain only, with a chainring up to 36T and cranks up to 165mm with a minimum offset of 25mm. It uses a UDH derailleur, works with Shimano and SRAM, and suits both electronic and manual shifting. If you run manual shifting, the shift cable length is 2,000mm.
Which wheel and tyre sizes fit?
The rear hub is 12 x 148mm Boost with a 6-bolt rotor mount, and the front hub depends on your fork, normally 15 x 110mm. You can run a 29in wheel at the front, and either a 29in or 27.5in wheel at the rear. The rear tyre can be up to 29 x 2.5 or 27.5 x 2.6.
What do I need to know about brakes and the dropper post?
The rear brake uses a 200mm direct post mount, and the brake cables are 950mm at the front and 1,750mm at the rear. The seatpost is 31.6mm, and the insert length is 260mm on the S, 280mm on the M, 300mm on the L and 320mm on the XL. We recommend 180mm of dropper travel on the S, 210mm on the M and L, and 240mm on the XL, with a 1,200mm dropper cable.
What warranty does the Vandal frame kit have?
The frame is covered for 5 years and the Avinox drive system for 2 years. All other included components are covered for 1 year, and the optional Fox shock is covered under Fox's warranty terms.
