Velduro steals the spotlight at China Cycle | Shanghai Bike Show 2025
Velduro made a dream debut at the 33rd China International Bicycle Fair (China Cycle 2025) in Shanghai last week, rolling out its very first public display and riding off with the show’s coveted Gold Award for Creative Product for the Velduro Phantom DJI powered electric gravel bike.
A partnership built on two hemispheres
Partnership is at the heart of Velduro's success. Our design team spans three countries—New Zealand, Australia, and China—united in their mission to create exceptional e-bikes. For months, they meticulously design and refine each frame variation, ensuring perfect integration with the DJI Avinox system.
Every frame and component is engineered to harness the DJI's impressive power-to-torque ratio. Our frames come to life in China's premier carbon manufacturing facility, where precision meets efficiency.
Once pre-production models roll off the line, they're shipped to Aotearoa for the ultimate test: local riders push every prototype to its limits on some of the world's most demanding terrain. Co-founder Dan Wallace believes that dual-hemisphere approach underpinned the win:
“Winning gold on debut proves our collaborative model works,” said Wallace on the stand. “We’re stoked to show the world a bike that’s light enough for all-day adventure yet powerful enough to flatten the steepest hill/mountain.”
What the win means
Sharing a top innovation award on their first outing puts Velduro firmly on the global radar and opens doors to distributors across Asia-Pacific and Europe. “It’s a massive vote of confidence in our design philosophy,” Dan told media minutes after the announcement. “We’re stoked—and this is only the beginning.”
